Drawing cartoons is not the most difficult thing in the world but it isn't very easy either. You need time, imagination and sense of proportions to produce vivid characters and make your drawings look three-dimensional.

Colors and shades have a decisive role in the business but the lines and curves you use for the contour constitute the basic element. The art of adding shadows can be learned by studying objects in different places of your room if you can count on natural light. Move the lamp around the toy and above it and make a visual note of what happens each time.

Now take a pencil and a piece of paper and try putting down your toy-character. The only thing to keep in mind is the head, which must be bigger for a baby animal. Yet, when you want to create people, proportions are a lot more important than colors. When we watch a film we usually concentrate on the face of an adult human character, but the general appearance can be easily noticed by the way it moves. Looking at a photo of yours or at your 6-year-old brother playing about the room will not help. There is nothing funny in real-life proportions. What you should do is exaggerate more or less in order to make your cartoon character amusing. A kid character will have a body about the same height as the head, while an adult character will look perfect with the body twice the height of the head.

Once you have created a set of animal and human cartoon characters (preferably on a graphic tablet with a stylus) and saved them in your computer, you may start preparing for a more difficult activity: creating 3D animations. There are several programs you can use to learn that. TrueSpace for instance is free and if you read the tutorial thoroughly and spend a couple of months of your life learning and testing the wide variety of options that the program includes, you may turn into an artist before you can notice. Nothing is easy when you try it for the first time, but with a little patience and a lot of passion you can make it. The Original Designer Fashions, Or Why Do We Wear Clothes?

Ken Ham, a well-known biblical creationist, teaches that the first eleven chapters of Genesis provide the basis for all the principles of Christian doctrine. So let's go to this book of beginnings to look for the answer to our question "Why do we wear clothes?".

In the Beginning
     
As believers in Christ, we have the story of creation laid out for us very plainly in Genesis. We know that in chapters 1 and 2 God created the heavens and the earth, formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, proclaimed that it is not good for man to be alone, and created a suitable helper for Adam. Adam said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, for she was taken out of man."
     
The verse I would like to focus on is Genesis 2:25: "The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame."
     
We can only imagine the situation: Adam and Eve were created by a perfect Creator and placed in a perfect environment. They had no knowledge of anything evil; they walked with God in the garden and communed with Him directly; they had no reason to be ashamed or to feel shame at being unclothed. There was nothing impure about the situation.
     
I don't know how long Adam and Eve were privileged to enjoy such a pure existence, but the serpent entered the picture and preyed upon the naivety of Eve by enticing her to eat the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. She then led Adam into sharing in the sin.
      
This disobedience broke their perfect relationship with God, and suddenly the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked (Genesis 3:7). Their shame at this knowledge caused them to feel the need to cover themselves. Their plan was to sew together fig leaves to make aprons for themselves, thus covering their private parts. When God came to walk with them in the cool of the day they were so ashamed that they hid from Him.
       
Do you think He already knew what they had done? They needed to say and God needed to hear them say what they had done to break this wonderful fellowship they had enjoyed. So He got right to the heart of the matter, not commenting on their manner of covering their sin, but rather dealt with the sin that had been committed. Punishment was pronounced immediately.

From Master Creator to Master Designer
        
Then the Master Creator became the Master Designer as He made garments of skin for Adam and Eve. You might say they had the original Designer clothes! Here we see the first blood sacrifice for sin, as one or more animals would have had to be killed to make the coverings for Adam and Eve. Most authorities agree that the meaning of the word translated "garment" in Gen. 3:21 indicates a piece of clothing which covered the body at least from the neck to the knees. God's plan was not the same as Adam and Eve's plan!              
        
In the following devotions, we are going to explore more about clothing and fashions, and what the Bible and other Christians have to say about how we dress.  Right now I would like to pose the question to all of us as girls, young ladies, and women:  Are we, like Eve, offering forbidden fruit by dressing in a way that does not match the original Designer's plan? Although men have the responsibility to control themselves, are we placing temptations in front of them that will cause them to desire what they should not desire?

Let's pray. "Father, You know the heart of each one in this room. You know the innocence, the naivety, as well as the sinfulness. Please speak to us in the language we can understand and show us how we can improve in our presentation of this feminine body You created. Help us to enjoy our time together learning how to use our creativity to honor You. We commit ourselves to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Years ago, I had a burning desire to have sunflowers in my garden and as I began to see tall and wonderful flowers in my mind's eye I bought seeds even though my gardening skills were not high in that time. Nevertheless, I trusted in nature and chose a nice patch under my window to plant the seeds for I wanted to see the flowers every morning.

In my great excitement I forgot the bag of seeds outside and the birds took their share out of it leaving but a small quantity. On the top of that, there were signs telling another story: some mysterious animal transported seeds away and lost some along the way to the garden's end.

Days went by and a feeling of excitement and expectancy spread in my heart and body until I could see the emerging little plants. My excitement knew no end and soon enough I contracted the habit of observing the young plants which grew relatively fast as we had a sunny and mild Spring. Things went well and I attached lots of hope to my sunflowers until their heads were so big that I expected them to bloom and open up their beautiful faces the next day. In that night I couldn't sleep well because I was impatient to see my flowers blooming; I could clearly hear it rain for hours.

Early in the morning, I went bare foot to the garden, so great was my impatience and imagine my surprise and disappointment when I discovered that what seemed to be a whole army of hungry snails climbed up to the flowers hearts and simply ate them. My frustration then equalled my previous excitement. The "flowers" were still standing tall but they would never bloom, I was devastated!

In the shock's aftermath, I decided I had to plant new seeds, which I did immediately while realizing at the same time that the problem was still there: the snails would return and eat up my efforts and joy or so I thought about it at the time. In a second, I declared war upon the nasty snails and did not leave any stone unturned until I found enough information on how to keep them away from my flowers.

The first solution I implemented gave poor results as they ate up the new young stems leaving five flowers, which I attempted to protect desperately.

The rain came more often during the night and I had no means of chasing them away from the growing flowers and yet by the effect of some miracle four flowers grew up to the point where the blooming was to be expected soon. I couldn't sleep at night, I had nightmares and although that might seem ridiculous now I didn't want anything eating up my efforts and great hopes.

In that day, a friend of mine came to my place and I told her about my snail problem. She laughed and gave me a special tip I didn't find anywhere else before. I used her suggestion immediately and hoped for the best over night as the rain was again strong, which is the ideal climate for snails to climb up the flower stems and eat the hearts.

It took ages for the morning to show up before I could finally go out and check out whether I still had any flowers. The scene I witnessed was quite dramatic: lots of snails met their end at the barrier I put between them and the flowers but some got past it obviously and ate up the flowers' hearts except for one!

I was upset but also grateful for the one flower that was left and it was the most beautiful sunflower I had ever seen. Well, in my eyes at least for it is as they say: " beauty is in the eye of the beholder".

Two days later the sunflowers in the neighbour's garden attracted my attention. My curiosity guided me through the unknown parts of my garden to where the beautiful and many sunflowers stood proud and tall under the warm sun rays that morning. Dew set on their brown and golden faces and made them glisten and glitter with a myriad of diamonds like tiny stars suspended in midair. I was in for a shock when I realized that the flowers were not in my neighbour's garden as I thought but in mine! In a corner I rarely visit or pay attention to because it had thick little bushes with thorns. It seemed that whatever animal that stole the sunflower seeds, it lost some of them in that very abandoned corner and there they were perfectly protected from the snails and anything else!

The Sunflowers Teachings: what can we learn about Manifestation?

I got my sunflowers in mysterious ways, nothing got lost after all and I learned through that delightful surprise that my strong desire to get beautiful sunflowers bore fruits even though my "fight" against the snails was not too successful. It did not happen where I thought it should happen but some weird circumstances and some mysterious bushes, I thought were the ugliest plants on earth, protected the seeds from the voracious snails and offered me plenty of sunflowers. After that incident my gardening skills improved and I learned to not dismiss anything based on its looks for it might be the one thing that has the potential to make something work perfectly and my dreams come true.

even though one wish didn't come true exactly the way you wanted it to be, there is always a great lesson from observing where and how it came true in a different way. So being open to possibilities that might be unknown to you at a time might lead you to your heart's desire in an easy and relaxed manner.

the weird incident was like a miracle to me and although I cannot explain it in a logical way, it made me aware of much greater laws and forces at work in the Universe. Let go and trust that what you want will come to you in ways that you could have never seen before. Be prepared for a delightful surprise.

I learned that I did rush into my decisions because my choice of the spot to plant the seeds was not the best. Moreover, after the first evidence that the snails seemed to like the spot where I planted the seeds, I should have taken a different approach and planted them somewhere else. Perhaps more drastic protection means would have helped. And as I come to think of it, many spots would have been a better way to go about it in the sense of gathering some practical experience about the good and less than good spots for the seeds. The stress and nightmares I suffered were unnecessary and I learned to be more relaxed when engaging in any experience. It certainly taught me to try on many spots and to take into account the results that occurred after that. The most touching discovery was that I got the flowers even though I did not have all the experience I needed to handle the "project" at the time.

And the greatest of all lessons was when I discovered that my neighbor planted a whole field of gorgeous sunflowers. My dream came true in so many ways that I was grateful for the whole experience. Where I worried much, my results were not too good and where I didn't expect anything I got more than I asked for. It truly pays off to observe where your manifesting efforts are blooming and do more of that...

Training Your Intuition

Intuition is a God-given faculty in the human being. It is the beginning of your direct link to God. The fact is, we are not separate from God, nor is God distant from us. This is an illusion created by mankind. If you believe that God is remote, it is you who have created the separation. God is the Spirit of Life in ALL things, and especially in all people. The members of the animal kingdom are endowed with their instinct, which is synonymous to the intuition. In essence, they are the same faculty, yet on a different biological and evolutionary level. For as the life-force of God lives through both animals and humans alike, it is through this special faculty that they are guided by an Intelligence beyond their own capabilities, this being in essence the Intelligence of God.

Training Your Intuition

One main difference between an animal and a human being is that the first has simple- consciousness and the second has self-consciousness. In other words, the animal is aware, but the human is aware that he is aware, and he is especially aware of himself. This allows the development of Realization, because self-awareness is required for spiritual unfoldment to take place. When you are aware of your own self, you will soon become aware of the God-being within. Therefore, the next level of deeper awareness is Cosmic Consciousness, which is in mankind's reach through intuition.

Through the intuition God's Intelligence guides the human species, just as He guides animals through instinct. However, another great difference is that mankind has the capability of not only receiving intuitive guidance from his Creator, but the ability to come to truly KNOW the Creator, to develop a genuine relationship with the Most Holy One. This developing spiritual intimacy leads to what the early mystics called Divine Union. But first you must go through the initiations of Illumination and Self-Realization.

While intuition is an innate faculty within you, and quite often functions when you least expect it, this process must be developed and fine-tuned in order to operate in a much fuller capacity. This is why you practice the Spiritual Disciplines, such as Concentration, Visualization, Meditation, Contemplation, and of course Prayer. These are tools for fine-tuning the intuitive function.

It is true that quite often you will have a hunch, or intuitive flash, or strong impression for no apparent reason, and it will turn out that you were absolutely right. There have been countless reports of premonition. There have been saints, avatars, gurus or simple religious devotees who could hear the voice of God. The prophets had the ability to prophesy. Others have definite abilities in clairvoyance and clairaudience. These are deeper aspects of Intuition, or what many call the Sixth Sense, which is a catch phrase for psychic abilities. Certain mystical schools refer to these abilities as avenues of experiencing Cosmic Consciousness, or the Consciousness of God. For as the consciousness of an individual grows in deeper awareness, and expands toward the Mind of God, he begins entering God's Consciousness. Understand that this development takes place specifically while the soul is unfolding through the spiritual Initiations, because these are an intrinsic part of the whole development of Cosmic Consciousness.

Webster's Dictionary defines Intuition in this way: "A1.a. The act or faculty of knowing without the use of rational processes: immediate cognition. b. Knowledge acquired by the use of this faculty. 2. Acute insight."

The fact is that the finite mind of human beings is limited in this material world, especially as they depend only on five senses, and use these with not as much awareness as they should. However, our species has six senses actually, but uses the sixth one far less than the other five. Incidentally, this sixth sense operates through the animal's instinct as well. Likewise, mankind's sixth sense is the manifestation of his intuition. It is this faculty of intuition which you must seriously learn to develop. This is the bridge which leads you into God's Consciousness. Without developing and using it, you remain in the mundane state of self-consciousness, which means your spiritual unfoldment will be much slower.

Developing the intuition leads to expanded awareness of things around you and within you. You will perceive things without logical reasoning, receive insights beyond the normal scope of the mind, and become spiritually sensitive to things the normal five senses do not penetrate. With practice and discipline, realities on a deeper level will open up to you increasingly, for your limited mind will be surrendering over to the Greater Mind of God, just as you will be giving up your will for God's Will to manifest in your life. You can use this prayer as a focal point, "Not my will, O Creator, but Thy Will be in me. Not my mind, O Creator, but Thy Mind be in me." This is a contemplative prayer that can open your heart unto the Heart and Mind of God when recited repeatedly, and it will allow you to become more receptive to His Holy Will.

One of the most important tools for developing the intuition is meditation. It quiets the mind and opens the heart to the voice of God. As you practice the Spiritual Disciplines, especially concentration, these are primary tools in learning to meditate effectively. You become more spiritually sensitive to certain feelings or receiving impressions or insights that are from God in essence, which is true intuition.

There are other techniques for developing the intuitive faculty, other then meditation, and we will give you a few ideas that you can try repeatedly, in order to get best results. And then you may come up with your own ideas, applying a little creativity. Quiet your mind, get focused and centered within, and become receptive to inner impressions as you try these:

*When the phone rings, be inwardly receptive, and attempt to perceive who is calling you; then answer it, and see if you were correct.

*When someone knocks on the door or rings the bell, try the same thing, to perceive who it is before you open the door.

*When you get the mail, don't look at the letters yet, but take each one and close your eyes, putting your hand on a particular letter. Then get quite, to perceive who it is from. Then look at it. Do this with each letter.

*If you want to test the accurate time, try the following. Have a particular clock or your wrist watch to go by, because most clocks or watches are a few minutes different from each other. You want to be consistent, so use only one particular time piece. Also, a digital watch or clock may be most effective for accuracy. For this demonstration, don't look at your watch or clock yet, but quiet your mind and intuitively perceive what the time is. When you get an answer, then look at your time piece and see how close you are. Again, this takes repeated practice, and you will be very surprised to see how accurate or precise that you will become as you try this more often. Eventually you will learn not to depend on clocks or watches so much.

*If you and your spouse or your children are shopping in a large store, or the mall even, and if you go your separate ways for a time, after a while, attempt to perceive what direction they are in, or to pinpoint exactly where they are within the store, or which aisle they may be in. See what your impression is, and follow suit to see if they are indeed where you though they were. This is especially effective if your child, for instance, has wandered off and you have no idea where he or she has gone. This is a very common occurrence, so this intuitive technique is a very useful one indeed.

When you use such techniques and practice them with regularity, you will be developing your intuitive ability. It is very much like working out in the gym, exercising to keep your physical body strengthened and fit. When you apply mental and spiritual exercises, you are fine-tuning your inward faculties, by developing meditation, intuition, spiritual sight, etc. Most important, you will be learning how to listen to God's voice within. When we say voice, this can be literal or figurative. Sometimes you might hear an actual voice, or you might get a flash of insight, or you might get a strong inclination to go to a particular place or to do a particular thing. Sometimes it is a premonition of something potentially to occur unless you prevent it. Such impressions can manifest in various different ways. In fact, in doing a retrospection in the past years of your life, you should be able to recall many such instances.

If you wish to try a more devotional method of developing the intuition, other then meditation or the other methods listed above, there is a technique you can try, especially if you are on the path of Christian Mysticism. Throughout the day as you meet certain situations or people, or face a particular problem, whether at work or at home, you can ask Jesus Christ, "How would you deal with this situation, or this person, or this problem?" or, "What would you say to so-and-so in this situation?" Then, as you relax and get quiet, intuitively tune into the presence of Jesus Christ, bringing him into the situation, and see how he would deal with the problem or situation at hand. You are seeing how he would think, act, or speak through you in these circumstances, and so guiding your life to live in his footsteps. With steadfast practice, as the days and weeks transpire, you will see definite results.

Another devotional method is to keep this prayer in mind throughout the day: "Not my will, O Creator, but Thy Will be in me. Not my mind, O Creator, but Thy Mind be in me." This will help as you meet any difficult situation that requires your decision, if you are not sure how to act. This prayer will be more then just a reminder, but can help to put aside your own will, that you may be guided by God's Will and Wisdom. This prayer also helps when you are in a circumstance of temptation and these words to the Creator will act as a guiding light of strength for you.

Remember that true intuition is channeling God's Will through you, to guide you and lead you onward into a higher consciousness of Divinity, or Cosmic Consciousness. Intuition is the key element for your communication with God, for it is how you receive what God is communicating to you, whether the avenue is prayer, meditation, contemplation, or some other method. The important thing is to focus and get centered within, becoming as receptive as possible to your God-being. Developing Divine Contact is highly important on the Mystical Path.

Every human being has the faculty of intuition, and each has experienced it to varying degrees. Yet they are not always fully conscious of it. They may even take it for granted, or label it as a mere hunch, or just a good guess, and sometimes it is perceived as your conscience. More often then not, it is a neglected human ability. But if you use this innate resource consciously and determinedly, and learn to develop it, especially in order to become receptive to the Will of God in your life, then you will indeed have a powerful tool, and your life will improve greatly. It will also guide you into the reality of being unified with the God within, or entering Divine Union.

The Intuition is a valuable spiritual gift of grace given to us by God in His immense love for us that we may become One with our Divine Source. Develop it and use it wisely.

What's the Difference Between 2D and 3D Anyway?

Isn't it obvious? Well, apparently not quite, when you consider how many people are still struggling with this topic!

What's the Difference Between 2D and 3D Anyway?

The first concept you must grasp is that 3D means 3 dimensional and 2D means 2 dimensional. Now before you think I'm stating the obvious, let me go on to say that the 3D and 2D in animation refer to the dimension in which the animation was created. Ahhhh. The plot thickens eh?

For 2D animation, everything happens on a 2 dimensional platform. Pictures are flat, without depth and offer only one perspective. Objects and characters are usually drawn without the subtle soft shadows we see in real life and colours have few varying shades. In 3D animation, everything happens on a 3 dimensional platform. Pictures have depth and offer multiple perspectives just like in real life and have soft subtle shadows casted on the objects and characters within.

In 2D, characters look cartoonish and unrealisitc. In 3D, characters can look cartoonish but realistic at the same time.

Another way to think of this is to think in terms of a painting and a sculpture. 2D is a painting, and 3D is a sculpture. 3D introduces "depth perspective," so we not only see a rectangle (2D) but a CUBE (3D). You may also want to think of it like being the difference between a photograph of a glass of water (2D) and being able to reach out and actually pick up the glass of water (3D).

Typically, 2D involves "drawing," or movement on, say, a flat surface (sketch pad, etc.) or in the vertical and horizontal planes. 3D involves "modeling," i.e., creating objects in 3-dimensions using a computer software, residing in an expansive virtual environment, complete with lights, reflections, other objects, shadows, etc.

You could start training yourself by comparing a cartoon like Bugs Bunny, Aladdin, Lion King (2D) to "Toy Story 1,2 & 3, "Finding Nemo" and "Incredibles" (3D). If you have not watched any of these great cartoons, you should grab one right away or be branded a neantherdal forever!
