How to Keep Rabbits Out of Your Garden

,
3D ANIMATION :

Rabbits may seem cute with their fur but they are the biggest menace in any vegetable garden. They not only chew upon vegetables like beans, lettuce or beet but they also eat away the leaves of young saplings.

Some of the effective ways to keep them at bay without causing them harm are:

• The garden should be fenced with chicken wire. This must be at least 2 feet in height and 5 inches in the ground to prevent them from digging burrows to enter the garden. This must be well supported with stakes placed 6 to 8 feet apart.
• The garden can be sprinkled with clips of human hair or urine of coyotes to keep cats away.
• Chili pepper sauce diluted in water or vinegar can be sprinkled all around to repel cats.
• Flakes of hot pepper or blood meal from garden centers can be sprinkled in the garden to keep cats away.
• Cat litter is also considered effective, but this is not advisable since it contains harmful bacteria.
• One can intentionally plant clover or weeds of plantain in a separate pocket which will attract rabbits while keeping them away from the garden.
• Onions planted in one or two rows around the garden is also effective in repelling rabbits with its strong scent.
• Strong scented soaps placed in the garden are equally effective in repelling rabbits.
• Ultrasonic devices that can detect intrusion by animals and spray water jets on them are effective in keeping not just rabbits but other animals also at bay.
