If You're Eating High Protein Be Informed About Mad Cow

,
3D ANIMATION :

Finding Mad Cow in Oregon puts a new wrinkle in the high protein diet, doesn't it? What's a person to do that wants to eat more meat, not less?

Are You Eating Less Meat Due to Mad Cow Disease?

Not the people I've spoken with. Most are saying, "Yipee, beef's on sale!" The food industry has done a great job of convincing us they are providing a safe food supply and we've been lulled into a false sense of security. Nothing could be further from the truth.

In July 1988, a ban was introduced in the UK which prohibited the use of the remains of sheep in cattle feed. BSE is thought to have spread to cattle from feed including meat and bone meal made from sheep suffering from a similar brain disease, called scrapie.

Ban Not Properly Enforced

Unfortunately the ban was not enforced properly for many years and remained a paper exercise (exactly as it has been in the US ever since).

Francis Anthony, a Herefordshire veterinary surgeon, and the British Veterinary Association's spokesman on BSE said, "If the ban had been enforced properly from the start, I have no hesitation in saying categorically that we should be seeing only a few cases today. But that contaminated feed was being given to animals until at least 1995, and possibly a year later."

The false sense of security for us in the US came from it being widely reported that the practice had been banned. They failed to make it clear that this was a "voluntary ban." Even I falsely believed they had long ago ended this practice until the recent news reports that it is still being done. Despite there being a clear connection between feeding rendered animals to animals causing Mad Cow disease, the meat and dairy industry continues the practice to this day. Why? Corporate greed, plain and simple. It is a cheap source of "protein" and makes cows and other animals fatten faster. A fatter animals weighs more, and they are sold by weight.

I have no doubt that people in the US aren't getting excited about the threat or beginning to avoid beef simply because no people have been reported with the disease. After all, this was a sick cow, not a human. Hence, people do not consider it a direct threat. Amazingly they don't consider those with CJD (Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease) a variant of Mad Cow as being related when clearly it is.

The Costs of Clean Meat Supply

The meat and dairy industry will now begin a campaign to make the higher cost of clean meat seem a ridiculous indulgence rather than a possibly life saving measure. It does cost more to have a clean food supply. I and my family are worth it, are you and yours?

For excellent reference materials read "Fast Food Nation" by Eric Schlosser, "The Crazy Makers" by Carol Simontacchi, and "Mad Cowboy: Plain Truth from the Cattle Rancher who Won't Eat Meat" by Howard F. Lyman. Be informed then make the choice for you and your family.

Food politics aside, I'm interested in my and my families health and well being, and I'm not interested in supporting an industry that doesn't care about the quality of their products or whether those products are potentially dangerous or even deadly.

What You Can Do to Avoid Dangerous Meat

  • Buy all your meat from the local butcher but be sure he's buying from quality farms. Even local butchers handle downer cows.
  • Buy all your meat from local stores that certify it is grain fed. Visit Eat Wild for example.
  • Cut back on your consumption of all meat in general, substituting beans for instance for protein.
  • Eat a "special occasion" steak at the best restaurants such as Ruth Chris' Steak House. Now that's a steak!

You don't have to be a fanatic, just be informed and then make the best choices you can for yourself and your family.

FarmVille Secret Strategies - Why You Need These to Be a Top Player

,
3D ANIMATION :

If you are into FarmVille, the game that has been sweeping through Facebook, you have probably wondered how some players can move up levels so much more quickly than most other players. To do the game justice you need to devote a certain amount of time every day. But to be a top player, you also need to take advantage of some FarmVille secret strategies.

FarmVille is like so many other games. You can try to find your way through on your own, or you can use the secrets that have been discovered by the best players.

I guess there is a certain satisfaction in beating a game without help, but why wouldn't you take the shortcut if you knew it would get you where you wanted to go more quickly?

Let's be clear about one thing. Shortcuts are just that, a shorter way to get from one place to another. Shortcuts are not cheating, they are playing smart. Using cheats to play FarmVille is not smart. Cheats can get your account banned and put an end to your FarmVille, and your Facebook days.

You can locate FarmVille strategies online by doing a search or hitting up the forums for some secrets. I've found players to be willing to share tips and trade ideas about how to get more money, what crops to grow and what animals to go for.

It's worth the time to check out some of these and you can meet some other players at the same time. Take time to interact with them. Even if you are just starting out, chances are that you can offer a helping hand to a new player and by doing so you will have made a friend.

In FarmVille it's an advantage to have friends. Lots of the doings in FarmVille involve other farmers. You can even earn money and experience points by helping out your FarmVille neighbors. It's kind of like a snowball rolling downhill.

The more you help, the more you can earn. The more neighbors you have, the more plots of farm land you can buy from the market place. The more plots of land you own, the more crops you can plant, and the more animals you can have. So having lots of friends and neighbors is really one of the biggest secret strategies you should use.

But of course, if you want to become one of the top players, you'll have to do more than spending time playing and having lots of neighbors. That's where a guide filled with top secret strategies to win at FarmVille legally, is essential.

How To Make Money With Your Digital Camera

,
3D ANIMATION :

Do you like taking photos? Then you've probably thought about making money with your digital camera in some way. It's only natural that people who like doing something as pleasant as photography, look for a way to turn their hobby into a part-time business or a full-time career.

You can sell your photography both online and off. The approaches are very different, but either or both will allow you to make money by taking pictures and doing something you love.

Today, the Internet has taken stock photography online. If you're not familiar with the term, a stock photograph is a photographic image that already exists. Stock photographs are used by printers, publishers, and web developers to illustrate whatever it is they publish. Stock photos are seldom sold outright; what is sold is a license for a specific use. Most rights to stock photographs are licensed through the stock photo agency that represents the image or the photographer, though some photographers sell stock photography on their own. In return for their marketing services, stock photo agencies take a percentage of the fees they collect for every photo they license.

There are many stock photo agencies online. Alamy, the largest of these, currently has nearly 11 million stock photographs available through its website. These cover a wide range of photo subjects that are available for downloading from the Alamy site.

With nearly 11 million photographs at just one agency, you can see that stock photography is a very competitive field. However, this doesn't stop many stock photographers from doing well despite the odds. Most stock agencies are open to anyone who can meet their image criteria, and a simple search for "stock photos" or "stock photo agency" will give you many options for an agency through which you can sell your work.

Selling stock photography through agencies is favored among photographers because the agency does the marketing, collects the payments, and keeps the sales records. It's pressure free. However, with stock photography, you only get paid when a photo sells, and nothing in the agency contract guarantees that anything ever will.

To be sure of getting paid for the photography you do, you have to take your efforts away from the Internet and into the world of people -- paying customers who live and work around you and need "non-stock" photographic services. Just because almost everyone owns a camera doesn't mean there aren't times in people's lives when they want the services of a professional, or talented part-time freelance, to shoot their wedding, take a portrait, or even get some good photographs of their children or their pets. If you have the skill and desire to do this kind of photography, you can find paying work taking pictures for them.

You will probably need to show someone who is willing to pay for your photography that you can do the job. You do this with a portfolio of your work. A portfolio should contain only your best photographs, and it's best that the samples in your portfolio consist of the type of photography you are looking to do, whether weddings, portraits, children, pets, or aerials for that matter.

Most potential clients or customers want to know what they can reasonably expect when they hire you, so a relevant portfolio of samples is important if you want to find work from anyone other than maybe your relatives and friends.

Wedding photography is a favorite among freelancers because most weddings take place on weekends and are ideally suited for people with full time jobs. And proven wedding photographers are paid very well. Everyone wants good quality photography for their wedding, but not everyone can pay the rates well-established photographers can garner. This can be an opening for you if you are competent and can save them some money.

People also love to have good photographs of their families, their children, and even their pets. If you're good with children or animals and have the patience to deal with them, taking pictures along these lines will probably be for you. Keep your customers happy with quality work, especially if you have a style they want, and you will not only have repeat customers but customers who will refer their friends to you.

Suicide Prevention Help

,
3D ANIMATION :

Suicide is a tragedy that crosses all human demographics regardless of race, religion, gender and social status. It devastates families and friends who often feel a desperate sense powerlessness and profound grief in surviving the suicide of a love one.

For many years, I have been answering letters from people who are despairing and contemplating suicide. Searching the Web they have found my Friendship Letter, where readers are encouraged to view their suicidal thoughts and feeling realistically. They are invited to submit their stories. Each account is as unique as an individual thumb print. However, the stories I have been told, show a common thread, namely, the belief that life is not worth living or the future looks to difficult to endure, and the individual will not be missed.

I have also heard from survivors of suicide. They have expressed guilt, remorse and deep sadness over their losses. Sometimes they too have written about their suicidal thoughts and feelings, brought on by the suicide of a family member, friend or associate.

The following is a list of helpful suggestions for those who are contemplating suicide:.

* CONTACT a suicide prevention or crisis center or trusted friend, family member social worker, medical professional or rabbi, priest or minister and

* TALK They will not think something is wrong with you or that you are "weird" or "crazy".

* SHARE your suicidal thoughts and feelings, fears, anger, disappointment and sorrow.

* BE ACTIVE Go for a walk and get some exercise. Often depressing and suicidal thoughts and feelings fade when something or someone else stimulates us.

* DO SOMETHING - anything. It does not have to be a HUGE project - but a little project LIKE TIDYING UP a counter or small cupboard. Remember to PRAISE YOURSELF for the work you have done.

* START A CREATIVE PROJECT in art, gardening, music, crafts, writing etc. Don't worry if your project is not a masterpiece. Many people have found when they are working on creative projects, they forget their painful suffering.

* Find someone or an animal or plant who could USE YOUR LOVE AND CARE.

* REMEMBER that along with your suicidal thoughts and feelings You are having other thoughts and feelings which are not suicidal.

* LISTEN to your thoughts and feelings without analyzing them, letting them come and go WITHOUT dwelling on them.

* IDENTIFY and ACKNOWLEDGE. other thoughts and feeling which are not suicidal.

* REMEMBER that you have experienced times in your life when you did not have suicidal thoughts and feelings because you were not depressed but were hopeful at the time.

* REMEMBER times in which you may have felt strong suicidal thoughts and feelings that eventually passed into times of other thoughts and feelings which were not depressing but WERE HOPEFUL and you were able to look forward.

* ACKNOWLEDGE for yourself that having suicidal thoughts in the midst of other thoughts is emotionally draining and that you have shown incredible strength in remaining alive and staying alive in spite of the powerful suicidal thoughts and feelings that you may have.

* In the same way that you do not believe or act upon all the thoughts and feelings that you may have, REMEMBER that just because you may have a suicidal thought or feeling, you do not have to believe or act upon the thought or feeling.

Canine Diabetes - The Warning Signs and Treatments

,
3D ANIMATION :

Dogs are known to suffer from illnesses such as diabetes as well. The pancreas is an abdominal organ that produces digestive enzymes for the metabolism of food. Occasionally, due to illness or trauma, the pancreas either produces less insulin or none at all and the body then becomes inefficient in dealing with high volumes of glucose in the blood. As the glucose is not being converted into energy, the body then starts to draw on its reserves of fat which does not serve the body's need for energy.

This can result in diabetes mellitus, or sugar diabetes, and is most common in middle aged to older dogs although it can occur in younger animals. As the treatment consists in replenishment of the body's supplies of insulin this form of the disease is otherwise known as Insulin-dependent Diabetes Mellitus (IDDM) (Type II diabetes mellitus).

Diabetes, if managed properly managed and controlled, will have little effect on your dog quality of life although there will be some changes in terms of treatment schedules and feeding regimes. Your dog's diabetes can be controlled with either daily insulin injections or oral diabetic medication alone if his symptoms aren't too severe or he has a bad reaction to injections. Insulin injections are simple procedures and painless as your vet would demonstrate and teach you how to administer them.

Some of the symptoms that indicate that your dog is developing IDDM are a vastly increased level of thirst and urination levels, and an enormous increase in appetite. This is because he's trying to take in enough calories to make up for the deficit in available energy as glucose is not being converted as energy. You may notice that your dog is losing a weight drastically despite his increase in appetite, as his body weight is being compromised to in light of the low insulin levels.

Your dog may grow increasingly listless if these symptoms are not picked up, with the increased likelihood of internal organ damage over time. A prolonged absence of insulin may lead to high levels of ketones in the body, which can result in a scent of sweet peardrops on his breath. This is a dangerous signal and is indicative of ketoacidosis which raises the pH level of the blood and this can cause serious damage within your dog's body.

Ongoing management of diabetes will include testing of his blood or urine for glucose in the morning, and giving him the appropriate insulin dosage for that reading. Approximately five minutes after your dog receives his insulin dosage, he can be given his morning meal. Later in the day, you will need to feed your dog when his blood glucose levels are low, and again this will require you to test his blood or urine to determine insulin levels present. Once you have established a good routine this should be adhered to until your vet suggests a review.

What is Permaculture?

,
3D ANIMATION :

Permanent Culture, or Permaculture, was initially conceived as a self-sustaining agricultural method, where agricultural systems are designed to require minimal, or ideally, no external human intervention. In modern days this term has been extended to describe a holistic approach to designing self-sufficient and ecologically-balanced human settlements, which minimizes our dependence on industrial systems of production and distribution and promotes synergy and harmony among the different components of our immediate environment.

Permaculture aspires to establish an ecological balance within the system. A perfectly balanced system is one that does not require external modifications and relies completely on its own resources, where one product is used to feed another. For example, a very simple permaculture farm is one which uses its animal waste to feed its crops, which in turn are used to feed the animals. At the same time, just enough crops and animal products (such as meat, eggs, etc) are generated to feed the human community. Such a simple system can evolve over time and turn into a highly complex ecosystem of its own.

Permaculture relies on a set of a well-defined set of design principles:

1. Underlying permaculture is observation and planning: before building a farm one needs to observe study and understand its natural components and how they relate to each other. One needs to consider the natural and artificial boundaries that define the system, as well as the natural resources that are available within it.
2. Evaluating these parameters then leads to the design, implementation and long-term maintenance of the permaculture system. The design is a highly creative and innovative process that is really the key to the success of the system.
3. Central themes in the design include the use of patterns, both natural (like a shape of a wave or spiral, common in nature) or patterns useful for a particular need (like a particular structure to minimize waste).
4. Permaculture often makes use of layers, in order to create a harmonious and efficient use of space. For example, layering different sized plants on a single soil patch will optimize space usage and allow a diverse and complementary eco-system to emerge.

How can we create and benefit from permaculture? There are many resources, books, courses and online websites that teach individuals how to improve their household and home-farming based on permaculture methods. We can start from planting plants in a certain pattern, raising farm animals in a certain manner or collecting and recycling water for home use. There are many levels of practicing permaculture and everyone can benefit from its obvious advantages. And on top of it all, we get to preserve our environment and live harmoniously with our planet and its many ecosystems.

Bats in the Attic

,
3D ANIMATION :

Wildlife animals are given their name for a reason; to be kept in the wild. Once they get inside a building there can be a full range of serious disasters. Of course no one openly welcomes wildlife into their home, but what do you do if they come in anyway? What if bats are living in your attic? This is actually more common than you think, and it is a problem that should be tackled without hesitation.

How to bats get in your attic? They can sneak in through any part on the home that has holes, cracks, or openings. They are heading for dark space and protection and an attic is ideal for them.

Why get it done immediately? This is for many reasons. The most interesting is because since bats are a protected species, they cannot be removed from your attic during certain times of the year. For example, during the summer months of May through July bats find places like your attic to keep their young. If you seal the attic when the adult bats are gone, that means the young are left alone to die in your home and their population becomes smaller. If you think you have bats in your attic and you wait until it is too late, you could be stuck with them there for months.

These animals can be a threat to your health and can carry rabies. They also leave behind disease in their feces. If you are cleaning up the feces, it is urged to wear a respirator.

What to do if you have this problem? Call a wildlife control professional. They can safely remove the animals from your home and in a timely manner. Even more importantly they do a full inspection of your attic and the exterior of your home.

During the inspection they check to see exactly how the bats got into the attic in the first place. Once the problem area(s) are found, they will seal the crack, hole, or opening shut. The bats are safely removed from the attic. Wildlife control companies promise to not harm the animals in any way and are there to do more than just protect your home -they want to protect the animals as well. Often times the same companies that do bat eradication will do animal rescue services.

There are custom made chimney caps available to those that are interested in taking all precautions to having a bat-free home.

Everything on Molds and Mildew

,
3D ANIMATION :

MOLDS and MILDEWS..

*are fungi, neither plant nor animals. They are part of the natural environment.

*are digesting decaying matter and feed on them to be able to grow.

*help in the breakdown of the decaying matter and recycle nutrients in the environment.

*are travelling through air. They can be found in the floating air or settled in the dust, but growing matters do not happen if no moist or damp or water is present.

*can be found anywhere, they grow on any surface that has even a smallest amount of water, moist or damp.

*are capable of growing indoors and outdoors with of course moist present.

*areas of high exposures are antique shops, saunas, farms, mills, greenhouses, flower shops, summer cottages and construction areas.

*can grow on wood, paper, cloth, drywall, celing, bathroom tiles, roofs, areas near a fountain, near the sink, leaked windows, carpets, laundry room, basement, even on food and many more as long exposed to moist.. These I mentioned are just the common ones..

*sources of water or moisture for mold growth includes roof leaks, cold spots in a building, slow leaks in plumbing fixtures, humidification systems, sprinkler systems, and floods.

*do not mind temperature for growing, they can grow on warm areas and cool areas also.

*current issues involve house molds and the other one health issues.

*shouldn't be allowed to grow inside the home and should be stopped.

*causes structural damage to buildings since they can rot wood and damage drywall.

*causes cosmetic damage -- leaving stains to furnitures and fabrics.

*causes mold hypersensitivity, making a non-sensitive person be sensitive due to repeated or frequent exposure.

*causes allergic reactions that maybe immediate or delayed. It does not need to be alive to cause one, dead molds or alive one still causes allergic reactions for some people.

*allergic responses include but are not limited to: headache, sneezing, runny nose, red eyes, and skin rash, respiratory problems such as wheezing and difficulty breathing, having cough and throat irritation.

*can be fatal and life threatening to immune-suppressed individuals.

*high risk individuals include those who have respiratory sensitivities and disorders.

*can be prevented in the homes by controlling the moist. Controlling of moist includes: fixing the leaking pipes, fixing the roof and windows, making sure that the area is well ventilated, and if undergone flooding, make sure you have cleaned and dried the area.

*exposure can be decreased. Avoid areas that are likely having molds such as cut grass and wooded areas.

*problems can be seen or smelled.

*Growth should be treated as a potential health concern and should promptly be removed.

*Growth can be removed by using a mold remover.

*can be prevented from coming back by using still a mold cleaner but making sure that the site is now free from moist, if it so happens that the molds came back, then the moist problem isn't treated yet.

*prevention also include, drying all wet materials thoroughly, keeping the moist controlled, fix the areas that cause moist, and cleaning thoroughly the are infected.

Effective Powerpoint Presentations - A Beginner's Guide

,
3D ANIMATION :

One of the most common and helpful tips you'll get when starting out with Powerpoint Presentations is "Keep it simple". Too many people get carried away with the creative ability of making custom animations. After a while, and especially when the audience are jaded Powerpoint viewers, things that go whizz, swoosh, twirl and make jarring noises are annoying.

For the beginner Powerpoint creator, here are a few more tips to get you started and on the road to producing a presentation that packs punch not overused gimmickry.

1. Examples.

Have a look at a couple of presentations already laying around and note the parts that you find interesting and those that you don't. You can write your own work over the top if you really like the set up and design. Just press 'Save As' and give it a new name. This will make a copy of the old file for you to play with.

2. Making changes.

Delete the images and info not related to your work and insert the images and info you need. You'll find Insert in the menu bar up top. Under insert you will find the icon for inserting numerous items, including images and text boxes. You'll need to have prepared your images beforehand.

3. Starting from scratch.

On opening a new file you'll be shown a blank, white slide/page with the option of choosing a template format for text and image boxes. Choose the blank template.

White backgrounds can be blinding and cause eye-strain. Use mid-pastel shades or dark colours. Dark Blue is always a good standby. Powerpoint has the option of using Background Templates. Many of these are fine, but stick to the simpler more corporate styles if you're doing this presentation for work. You can find the Templates under Background Design.

Start with a background so you don't give yourself a headache looking at the white screen. You can always change it later. If you don't want to use one of the PowerPoint background templates, you can design your own. Right click on the white slide and choose Background. Go to the little black arrow and click. Up will come another dialog box where you can choose a colour or effects.

Let's keep it simple to start with and just choose a colour. If you don't like the colours shown, highlight More Colours and click. To start with, choose a dark blue. Next you need to click on either Apply To All or Apply. The first will apply your chosen colour to all slides currently in existence within this file and any new ones you choose to make. The second choice will apply the background to the existing slide only. Every other slide or new slide will need to then be done individually. Make life easier for yourself and click on Apply All.

Play around later with Fill Effects and see if you can figure out how to use an image as a background. It can look good but don't forget that this will detract from information you may want on the slide.

4. Text.

I usually find it easier to type the information into the text box rather than Inserting or Copying. This is only because formatting doesn't always carry across from other types of software. Also, you should aim to keep small amounts of info on each slide. Lots of text that is squashed in is hard to read and your viewers will lose interest.

5. Images.

Keep your images to a minimum as well. Bigger images well-placed are much more interesting and easier to assimilate than lots of little pictures.

6. Slide set up

Keep in mind that part of your slides will not always be contained on the screens you use. This is because your computer monitor and screens are not the same dimensions. If you're designing for the big screen, it is worth your while to find out the screen dimensions before you start. Allow, say 5 millimetres, around the edge of each slide and keep your images and text boxes within that border.

7. Fonts.

As with text documents, keep your fonts to two different styles only [one is fine]. Note that Arial and Arial Black are the same font so you could use both of those plus a completely different one such as, say, Papyrus. With dark backgrounds use light fonts. White is okay for text, pastel shades are good too. On lighter backgrounds use dark text. Orange and dark blues or greens usually look good.

8. Content.

Keep the content simple as well. A few great images and main bullet points are much more successful than a presentation that goes over the top with things to look at and take in. The meat of the information is usually given by the presenter with the bullet points as handy headings or reminders.

9. Packaging.

You can "package" your presentation to send off to other people or put on a disk for use on other computers. This tool is under the File section. If you have used any mpegs or wav files [or anything similar, not jpegs], then you must make sure that they are together in one file when you put them into your presentation. The program will look for these files and if it can't find them your fancy moving pictures or sounds simply won't work. Very embarrassing! With red faces in mind, always test the end result on your computer and on somebody else's before you head off to the presentation event. When you get to your event, check it again, especially if using yet another computer. This will allow you to iron out any bugs before you give your presentation.

10. Always be prepared to give your presentation without the actual PowerPoint component. Murphy's Law seems to apply to PowerPoint presentations and computers even more than traffic lights when you're running late for work!

African Safari Wildlife Information

,
3D ANIMATION :

The more you know about the unique behavior and traits of our wildlife, the more you will appreciate the absolute beauty of their interaction in the African bushveld.

Spotted hyena often sit in water to cool off. They are unable to perspire and so pant nasally, the evaporation from the moist mouth and nasal cavities cooling the inhaled air and the blood going to the brain.

At certain times of the year during winter, sparse vegetation or drought, a leopard tortoise will eat calcified dung to help with shell development or egg laying; giraffe will suck on large bones, using their tongue to manipulate the bone in and out of their mouth to obtain trace elements such as calcium and phosphorous.

Wild dogs are not a feral species. They are naturally occurring, evolved in Africa and have maintained their current form for a few hundred thousand years. Wild dogs grab small prey and give the "death shake", violently shaking the small animal with rapid side to side movements of their head which usually breaks the preys neck or back. Wild Dogs usually run larger prey to exhaustion and pack members grab at the softer rear areas of the anus, belly and groin with perhaps one dog holding onto the snout or lips forcing the preys head down. In this manner the prey is quickly disemboweled and dies from blood loss and shock. Wild dogs regurgitate food to feed members of the pack that cannot hunt (pups and adults). This specialized mechanism ensures the survival of all members. Survival for wild dogs depends on pack strength.

Honey badgers are short tempered, aggressive and very dangerous when harassed or annoyed. They have thick loose skin which allows them to turn on attackers when being held. Combined with powerful jaws equipped with broad crushing teeth they are a formidable opponent, even lions and leopard tending to avoid them.

Lions are the only true social cats with a matriarchal social structure. Groups are formed and based on close bonds among females, not necessarily closely related. Males fight for the right to rule a territory and have access to its females but may form coalitions with brothers, half-brothers or strangers. This improves their chances of maintaining a home range and does not necessarily impede mating opportunities. Lion will defend their territory against members of the same sex. Cats kill by suffocation, or severing arteries and the spinal cord.

Black-backed and side-striped jackals form a monogamous bond for life and only find another mate if one partner dies. The male also assists with parenting and supplying food.

Animals like cheetah and leopard use disruptive discolouration camouflage. These mammals use spots, stripes or other patterns on the coat to disrupt their body outline so that it blends into the background; effectively disguising its overall shape.

Most male mammals have scrotum in a thin layer of tissue away from the body to ensure sperm remains at the most viable temperature for production and viability. In cold weather the muscle surrounding the scrotum contract, pulling closer to the body for heat.

Certain mammals have a 3rd eyelid called a haw or nictating membrane, usually situated inside the eye. It moves sideways across the eye and is normally completely or partially translucent. Its purpose is added protection for the delicate eye, and/or to remove dust and debris. Snakes and bird species that are plunge divers have this membrane which sweeps across to protect the eye before impact with water.

Leopard, cheetah and wild dogs have dark bodies with a highly visible and contrasting white patch at the end of the tail. This is used as an easily visible "follow beacon" for young and other members of the pride/pack through long grass or thick bush. Lions have a black tip on their tail, contrasting with a light tan body. Observe the comical warthog who, when alarmed, runs off with tail extended straight up towards the sky so as to be easily followed into the bush.

The aardwolf is a termite-eater with ridges on its palate that help catch termites during the five licks per second. They have papillae on the tongue to prevent abrasion from sand as it licks its prey from the soil surface. Their stomachs grind the food that their cheek teeth can't, and vast amounts of saliva neutralise any toxic secretions from prey. When threatened, an aardwolf consciously erects the mane of long hairs along the neck, back and tail, making themselves look a lot bigger in the hopes of deterring an attack.

Spotted hyena cubs have a black coat for the first three months of life. When twin females are born, one usually kills the other. This is because hyenas are a matriarchal society. Spotted hyaena females are bigger than males, and because they dominate food sources, stay that way. Hyena generally dominate all other predators except for lion. In numbers they can intimidate and drive lions off a kill particularly because of superior teamwork. Female genitalia have changed in appearance to mimic those of males, possibly linked to when the species evolved into a matriarchal society. The clitoris has become enlarged to look like a penis which still encloses the vagina and urethra, which has become a common tract. The labia mimic a scrotum and the "testes" are fatty deposits which shrink with age.

Suricates, more commonly known as the mongoose or meerkats, are easily identifiable by the "sentry position" in which they stand up straight, tails down, front paws together to scan for birds of prey or threats on the ground.

Horn development in antelope is mainly based on male reproductive competition, defense playing a secondary role. Certain females such as impala and nyala do not have horns. Horns that are broken do not regrow with the exception of kudu and nyala whose horns grow throughout their lifetime. Other species horns reach full size at maturity.

The hind legs of a red lechwe (antelope) are longer and more powerful than the front legs, helping them to make huge leaps through the watery or marshy terrain they prefer to inhabit. They have widely splayed hooves so as not to sink into the soft substrate.

Kudu and eland can clear a 3 metre obstacle from a standing position, and the faster they are moving the lower they jump but the further they reach. This is used when trying to escape predators.

Impala have big black tufts of hair near their hind feet that enclose a glandular patch of skin called the metatarsal gland which contains a slightly sweet smelling substance, may be used in communicating a scent signal to other members of the herd for social and defensive reasons.

Dark coloured antelope usually have light coloured babies. This is a survival strategy allowing the babies to take on the colour of the long grass in which they are hidden until old enough to follow their mother.

Young buffalo are not light coloured as they are not hidden. Giraffe have seven neck vertebrae, as is common with most mammals; however, one vertebra can be over 25cm long. The forelegs of a giraffe are longer than its neck, therefore the giraffe must bend or splay it legs to drink or feed on the ground. A giraffe's heart, weighing up to 12kg needs to be large and powerful to pump blood through the large body and against the force of gravity up that long neck to the head. Its lungs can hold 55 litres of air. A newborn giraffe is about two metres tall with a weight of 100kg. The baby falls about 2 metres to the ground at birth, the female bending her legs slightly to lessen the height. The slight impact when hitting the ground helps start the lungs breathing.

Hippos are not good swimmers. They are bottom dwellers, keeping slow-moving water ways open by acting as dredgers against siltation and vegetation growth. They wear pathways along the bottom, can push their way to the surface in deep water and slowly return to the bottom. This is not swimming as they annot control their buoyancy. Hippos can only stay under water for about 5 minutes and will drown in water too deep to reach the surface for air and therefore require a habitat of slow moving water that is deep enough from them to submerge, but not too deep to make surfacing for air impossible. Hippos can sleep under water, subconsciously raising their head to the surface for air. Baby hippos can suckle under water.

Warthog drop to their knees when rooting. Rooting is when the animal uses the hard cartilaginous disc on the end of its nose as well as its tusks to dig for food. They live in groups called sounders and most often utilize burrows dug by others in termite mounds. Warthogs enter their burrows backwards, protecting their heads from what might be inside the burrow, and being in position to defend the burrow entrance quickly.

A white rhino male can reach up to 2 300kg whereas a large black rhino weighs around 1 100kg. A white rhino has pointed ears, a flattish back with a bump near the middle, and elongated head, a square upper lip for grazing. The young usually runs ahead of the mother and the tail curls back when alarmed. The black rhino has rounded ears, a concave back, a rounded head, a pointed prehensile upper lip for browsing. The young usually runs behind the mother and the tail is held straight out when alarmed.

All zebras have individual striped patterns, as well as their left and right side patterns differing. There is a greater concentration of capillaries under the black stripes than white stripes which is thought to help with dissipating heat which the black draws more of.

Elephants can swim well, not needing to stay in contact with the bottom. The trunk will be used as a snorkel when crossing deep water. Dust or mud bathing after a swim helps protect the skin from sunburn. Suckling calves do not use the trunk to suckle but use the mouth directly.

Pangolins have no relation to armadillos even though they have a superficial resemble and dietary similarities. They are largely free from predation, even from prides of lion and spotted hyaena. This is because the pangolin when harassed wraps itself into a ball and is protected by scales made of keratin.

These scales are hard with small ridges and have a sharp leading edge. When curled up they lie still, but if harassed further they scythe their tail from side to side which can inflict a nasty cut or even an amputation.

Caracal are one of the most ferocious of all the local cats. Skilled, secretive hunters adept at climbing trees, these smaller cats will not hesitate to defend themselves. Caracal are the only local cats that have ear tufts.

On cooler days bat-eared foxes will sun themselves close to a bolt hole by lying on the ground, with ears flat to remain inconspicuous. Dens have more than one hole to help them escape from predators.

The central horn protuberance on a mature African buffalo is called a "boss". Old buffalo bulls often remain in bachelor groups or become solitary. One of their favourite pastimes is wallowing in the mud which has given them the nickname "daggaboys" meaning mud boys. This is likely done because there is a good supply of soft green grass in marshy areas for their worn down teeth, and because as they lose hair on their backs and rumps they need protection from the sun.

Painless Childbirth - Fact Or Fiction?

,
3D ANIMATION :

You've heard the claims - women can have wonderful, painless birth experiences. But is there anything to them?

In short, the answer is yes.

The female body is specifically designed to conceive and carry a child, to birth the child, and to nourish the child in the months following birth. Women throughout history were able to have babies easily and with little discomfort.

So how can you have a painless childbirth?

First, it's important to understand that your physical condition plays a part in things. Good prenatal care is essential. I don't mean attending your doctor's appointments every few weeks. You need to take good care of yourself. Don't depend on your doctor. Eat a good pregnancy diet. Get moderate exercise (walking is good) and spend time outside in the fresh air frequently.

Next, realize that you've been conditioned to think of birth in a certain way. All through your growing-up years you heard stories of birth, you saw birth on television and in the movies, you may have even read about birth.

Think back on what you learned. You probably remember scenes with panicked women screaming on the way to the hospital. You probably heard your female relatives tell horror stories of their births.

Now here's another interesting thing to look at - think about animal births. You probably picture a cat or dog quietly giving birth to their kittens or puppies. A horse or cow in a dark barn, and in the morning there's a little calf or foal.

You probably hold the belief that animals give birth easily, and that people do not.

Understanding this belief is key. You see, if you believe your labor and birth will be painful, they will be! You'll do all kinds of unconscious things - like tensing up your body during labor, complaining about all the pain - that cause your labor to hurt.

So how do you begin to change these beliefs and have a painless birth, or at least a birth that involves only pressure sensations?

The most effective techniques

First, make sure you learn about effective birthing. There are techniques you can and should learn. These are not necessarily to remove pain. They're to help you be effective at birthing your baby. Learn the huge difference positions can make to how easily you give birth, and how you can actually increase the size of your pelvis for an easy birthing.

Next, change your beliefs about birthing. You can do this starting right here, right now. Take a look at your beliefs - no matter how they were formed. You're going to erase those images.

Start by reading stories from women who had great births. You can even watch clips of women giving birth with strength and lack of fear. Determine that you're going to give birth to your baby in the same way.

Write down several positive things. "I am having an easy birth." "I am strong and will birth my baby with ease." "I embrace the pressure I feel as my birthing time begins." These are some examples.

Repeat these to yourself. Spend time visualizing your perfect birth. Picture it over and over, in great detail. Picture it from a first-person perspective.

Did you know your mind can't tell the difference between that vivid image and reality? It's true - science has shown it can't. So each time you visualize that perfect birth, you're conditioning yourself for it!

If you have any real fears, don't let them overtake you. Confront them and research them. Get completely logical and factual and decide what you'd do if the problem arose. Then move on. You've already decided how you'll handle it, so don't dwell on it. Say your positive statements. Visualize your perfect birth.

As you take action to have a healthy pregnancy and good birth, and as you reprogram your old, false beliefs about what childbirth is, you'll be well on your way to painless birth.

,
3D ANIMATION :

Like many parents you may have a bedtime routine for your children that includes the reading of stories. With that in mind, you might want to consider using children's ebooks as part of this bedtime process. Through this article you are provided an overview of what some parents have done in order to incorporate children's ebooks into a bedtime routine for their own children. You may find this information helpful to you in your own efforts to make children's ebooks a part of the life of your child.

Many parents have taken to purchasing hand held or protable eBook readers to allow the reading of children's ebooks at bedtime. Of course, you do not want your child sitting in front of the personal computer at bedtime trying to digest children's ebooks. Moreover, even a laptop can be cumbersome when brought bedside for bedtime reading. Therefore, the eBook reader is the perfect solution when it comes to children's ebooks.

These eBook readers can be purchased at some electronic stores in the brick and mortar world. While the number of stores that carry eBook readers in their inventories is increasing over time, the fact that is that in some communities it still can be a challenge to find an eBook reader on the shelves of stores.

With this in mind, parents who want to incorporate children's ebooks into a bedtime routine and who need an eBook reader to accomplish this task are turning to the Internet and World Wide Web. What can sometimes be a bit challenging in the real world becomes a breeze online ... there really is a good selection of websites in operation today that carry ebooks in their inventories. Thus, from the comfort of your own home, and in no time at all, you can have the specific tool you need - an eBook reader - to incorporate children's ebooks into a bedtime routine for your kids.

When it comes to the children's ebooks that are suitable for bedtime, you need to be careful about making sure that you select children's ebooks that have a minimal amount of high impact imagery. There are children's ebooks that pretty much stick to text with basic illustrations. These tend to be best for bedtime as they will not over excite or stimulate children when they should be winding down to sleep. (You need to keep in mind that there are other children's ebooks on the market today that include and incorporate lively animated graphics and so forth which really can be too much at bedtime.)

Finally, by shopping around online you will be able to find a nice selection of children's ebooks that are suitable for bedtime reading available at a variety of websites. You can develop a nice library of children's ebooks for bedtime reading and not spend a great deal of money in the process.

Pets And The Sale Of Your Home - Find Out If They Truly Are Your Best Friend Or Your Newest Foe

,
3D ANIMATION :

Consider this: your property is now on the market for sale, and prospective buyers call to book showings. You are excited, and eagerly await the viewings. But, take a moment and look down. Is your dog as happy about having someone in his home as you are? All pets have their own personality, one that may clash with prospective buyers as they view your home for sale.

Animal Personalities:

Dogs can be extremely territorial, and may not like people viewing the home. As a result they may bark or snarl at those who enter. This will put people off, and make them feel uneasy in your newly listed property. Ultimately, they will leave without having a good look around and ultimately may discount your home from their 'buy' list. A sale can be lost. I know from personal experience how this can be very disturbing. Once, I was meeting my buyer clients at a home we had planned to view. I arrived early - as I generally do - to open up the home, and turn on all the lights for them.

Upon opening the front door, I immediately heard massive growling coming from somewhere deep in the dark. I did not know the owner had a dog, and it sounded big. I felt very uncomfortably, so I slowly eased back outside. I called the listing company so that they could contact the owner, who eventually came and removed the dog for my showing. This situation could have been made worse if my clients, and I, were already going through the house, before accidentally stumbled upon the dog. It may be a friendly one to its owner, but obviously strangers were not welcome on its own turf. The mood to purchase was lost.

When listing your home or condominium for sale always alert the salesperson or Agent that a dog is in the home, and what will become of that dog during showings. Will it be put in a cage? Will it be out in the yard? Or, maybe stay with a neighbour? Will you board the animal for a bit to allow plenty of potential clients through? I know I'm singling out dogs here, but this could apply to any animal you have in the home. I have seen cats get extremely irritated, with buyers travelling throughout the home. Remember, it's their home, not yours.

People Personalities:

As mentioned, animals have personalities, but so do human beings, and not all like animals. A dog may bark (in an excited way) or try to 'sniff' buyers as they wander throughout the home. Unfortunately, dogs tend to sniff people at crotch level. This can be jarring, and unsettling for some. Also, if a prospective buyer is trying to get a sense of the home, it will be difficult to concentrate if there is a barking dog following them around the whole time. And, let us not forget our feline friends. A cat may look friendly, and probably is, but it may give a slight 'hiss' as buyers approach.

Or, the animal might want to play, and accidentally scratch someone, who may have gotten a bit too close. I have taken many clients through homes, and have seen their nervousness in simply knowing there is an animal - any animal - in the house. And, even though I personally love animals, I'll admit I've been nervous as well on occasion. It is always best to play it safe, and remove all pets during any showings of your property. The tank of fish can stay!!

Odours:

Naturally, associated with any animal is their own body odour, especially if they have gotten wet, either from snow or rain. Upon entering your home prospective buyers will immediately notice these odours, and form a 'negative' about the property. You may have had the home staged, and tidied up, yet the odours remain. If the smells are really potent (maybe you own more than one animal or a large cat box is in the basement) then a good cleaning of the home - especially carpets - should be performed.

As well, the animals should then be boarded until the home is sold. It's a difficult thing to do as they are your friends and companions (my Sheltie was with me for 19 years; my cat for almost 25!) but necessary to facilitate the sale of your home at a good price. Remember, your home is but one of many in a crowded marketplace, so any perceived negative will make buyers look at other potential properties.

Odours can be front and centre, but fleas, ticks and bugs are a major concern as well. If your pets are let outside a lot, then odds are they are bringing back something unwanted into your home on their skin. It doesn't bode well for buyers to see an animal off in one corner of the house incessantly scratching itself. Fleas and ticks will jump onto a human host to draw blood. They are not particular. Make sure this is not the case in your property for sale.

So, when you put your property onto the market, it is wise to address any pet issues. I know they will look at you with those sad eyes, but the point here is that you want your home sold fast, and for an excellent price. The sooner it is sold, the sooner you can be reunited!

Mustangs in The Wild Stand For American Heritage and Freedom

,
3D ANIMATION :

In our western states they're about 25,000 wild mustangs and burros that are supposed to be allowed to remain running free on public lands, in their natural habitat managed by the Bureau of Land (BLM) Management. President Nixon signed the "Wild Free Roaming Horse and Burro Act of 1971".

They shouldn't be rounded up by helicopters and hauled a thousand miles away to stand in a holding pen awaiting to be sent to a slaughter house at the American taxpayers expense. It's illegal to gather horse's up by helicopters in the first place. Cruelty to animals is a crime punished by stiff fines and jail time. They should be allowed to remain exactly where they're at..to run free on public lands.

The mustangs have every right to remain there as free roaming animals the same as the American bald eagle, buffalo, black bears, grizzly bears, cougars and all the other mammals in other parts of the United States.

The mustangs have been a symbol of our American heritage and a true symbol of the American West. Young generations need to continue to know about the meaning of freedom for the next two hundred and fifty years the same as they have for the last two hundred and fifty years.

If not first hand seen, touched, worked with, we've been taught about what American heritage (mustangs) stands for. The mustangs have been an important part by being used and rode across, in the western states. The first explorers' used them and farmers used them, the civil war army used them, as well as all the other military forces used them. Right here in 2011 horses are still used in police work.

The mustangs are a "household" word with every adult and child in the United States. If not mustangs then they surely know what a horse is! Automobiles, football teams, clubs, school mascots of grade schools, middle schools, high schools and colleges, streets and many countless other entities use the word mustangs for a reason. And, that reason is American heritage and freedom.

The mustangs can't speak for themselves so it's our responsibility to step up to the plate, speaking out for them! The American Wild Horse Preservation Campaign, Madeline Pickens and countless others have went to great extremes to bring forth awareness to this very issue!

With the thousands of acres that Ms Pickens purchased for a sanctuary to be built for the mustangs' and burros is a workable plan that will work! There's already been many wild horse sanctuaries in operation for years, proven to work by Neda DeMayo and Dayton Hyde in other states. Write your district legislation to do something before all the mustangs are killed off!

Omega-3 Fatty Acids, EPA and DHA

,
3D ANIMATION :

Ancient hunter gathers would have had a high proportion of fresh fruits, vegetables, meat and fish in their diets. In comparison our diets are full of over processed carbohydrates, salt, sugar, fats and a huge number of chemicals is the form of colours, additives, preservatives, artificial flavourings - to name just a few.

It has long been recognised and acknowledged by the medical profession that to maintain a healthy lifestyle we need a balanced diet which includes all of the basic elements - minerals, vitamins, amino acids and various enzymes.

Many people are finding that despite eating healthily they cannot source the food nutrients needed. Due to the consumer demand for cheap food, we have encouraged and pressurized the food industry, from farmer to supermarket, to mass produce our food. From battery poultry farming to mass growing fruit and vegetables, most of the products we buy to consume are produced on a large scale.

Fish consumption has been dramatically affected by consumer demand with fishing restrictions and quotas common place as we have come very close to wiping out some species with over fishing. The knock on effect for the consumer is that this once cheap and abundant food has become more expensive, consequently less fish in our diets.

What is important about this, is that because of our reduced consumption of fish in our diet, we are also consuming less fatty acids. While the initial reaction to this was positive, the reality of this is confusing as we are now learning that not all fats are bad.

Research in this area has shown consistently that oily fish contains fatty acids that are essential in maintaining our health. Fatty acids are basic units of fat molecules that are arranged as chains of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Fats are mixtures of different fatty acids. Essential fatty acids are not produced by the body and can only be supplied by absorption from our diet.

Omega-3 are highly polyunsaturated fatty acids, which are found in higher fat fish, such as tuna, mackerel and salmon. It can also be found in high quantities in flax seed but the digestive system has a hard time breaking it down in its raw form. The name, omega-3 refers to the numeric position of the first double carbon bond when counting from the methyl end of the molecule.

Omega 3 comes in three forms, known as; a-linolenic acid (ALA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Scientists have been most interested in the potentially beneficial effects of combinations of DHA and EPA

William E.M. Lands published an article in 1992 giving an overview of his research into omega-3 fatty acids. It was found that for animals and children to grow normally a small proportion should contain omega-3. It was discovered that every cell in the body has components made of fatty acids, which means that omega-3 is essential for normal tissue functions in the human body.

In September 2004the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has said "supportive but not conclusive research shows that consumption of EPA and DHA omega-3 fatty acids may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease."

It has been shown that the Mediterranean and Artic Inuit's diets have high HDL, or good, cholesterol levels. This is due to the high levels of fish consumed which contain omega-3 fatty acids and have benefit of increased HDL cholesterol. Additionally, circulating fatty material (triglycerides) in the blood is decreased. Fish oil supplements containing EPA and DHA have been shown to have a similar effect.

Omega-3 fish oils have been tested and researched for many years and there are now many highly regarded clinic studies that have published reports validating the benefits of taking this fatty acid. Some of the benefits include;

- Fish oils have been shown to help lower cases of high blood pressure due to cardiovascular disease and reduce high cholesterol.

- Fish oils with omega-3 also help prevent blood clots.

- Fish oils with omega-3 have been shown to lower heart rates and decrease the chances of dying from a sudden heart attack.

- Omega-3 also helps stimulate the circulation and eases problems with varicose veins.

- Omega-3 also helps with depression as this condition has been linked to a lack of omega-3.

- Fish Oils with omega-3 have been proven on numerous occasions to improve brain function.

There are also links to support the lower risk of developing Alzheimer's disease when taking omega-3.

There has also been studies and evidence to support claims that children with autism are likely to benefit from omega-3 supplements. There is anecdotal evidence that it can improve cognition, sleep patterns, concentration and general health. One report suggests that a 540 mg dose of EPA removed the anxiety over every day events from one autistic child. Dyslexia which is said to be an autistic spectrum disorder is also said to be improved by the use of good quality high concentration fish oil supplements.

In another study a group of people with schizophrenia and Huntingdon's disease were given EPA or a placebo. There was given the EPA had an increase in white and grey brain matter while those on the placebo lost cerebral tissue. This ability of omega-3 to repair brain damage has given the fatty acid in the name of 'Brain Food'.

Currently the easiest way to increase your intake of omega-3 is to take a supplement. When looking at the various supplements around, be sure not to confuse Omega 3 fish oils and fish oils with omega 3 - there is a difference. It is also worth doing some research on the different brands available as the price is a very revealing factor. If you buy cheap oils, you will get what you pay for and in some cases you might get a bit extra.

The best oils are produced from fish that live in areas where there are little or no pollutants. Some fish oils have been known to contain heavy metal contaminants. Also the capsule strength and additional ingredients are worth comparing.

Another area of confusion is cod liver oil and omega-3 fish oil. Cod liver oil is made from the liver of the cod and is high in vitamin A. Omega-3 fish oil is made from the whole fish which means it has a completely different nutrient content.

Distinguishing Between a Good Design and the Right Design

,
3D ANIMATION :

How does it matter?

An effective design speaks volumes. It should contain thousands of details but should not be terse. An overwhelming design does not normally appeal users. The designer should distinctly demarcate what will work and what does not. An attractive and captivating web design can actually be a turn off or a distraction to the users if some basic rules of thumb in design are not kept into consideration while designing the page. The user interface makes the first impression about the web application. If it fails to satisfy the user, the whole purpose is defeated. In humans, the first impression is usually persistent. The quality of the design should never be compromised.

Customer First

A perfect design should only focus on representing and complying with the specifications given the users, exactly the way they have demanded. The designer should not get carried away with the fancy ideas or technologies which have state of the art widgets, clip arts, motion pictures, charts and graphs etc. They might be new on the block and making news. The web designer could have had a great time exploring and fiddling with them and tempted to incorporate those things in design, but they must ensure that the instead of focusing on the small and individual elements, they have to take the 'big picture' into account. It makes no sense if those intricacies are a misfit in the overall theme. They should not only have the creative instinct of designing, but should possess an eye for the design too and should be able to discard the things that are not in sync with the model representing the requirements of the client or the target audience.

Keep it simple

The mindset of the web application designer has to be neutral objective. Unless they are working on an animated and extravagant website, they should not be obsessed or inclined to jazz up their web site with adding special effects, animated graphics, redundant pop-ups and other screen messages, pompous logos which can tend to distract the users from the content. Another disadvantage with over boarding the page with such things increase the loading time of the page unnecessarily. The most important factor to remember is the target audience.

The Content Management

The content of the web application should ideally be considered as the king. It signifies the purpose of existence of the web site and what it is meant for. The efforts should be channelized more towards putting forth the appropriate content in a coherent manner rather than beautifying the page. In a way, it does constitute an significant part in the design too. The web designer has to take care of the back ground color, the font, color of the text. These things should be coordinated with the theme of the design. If they are not managed properly then the website actually loses its relevance. A lot of effort and time should be invested in collating and hosting comprehensive, crisp and unique content, for the obvious reason to make their website optimized for search results.

Becoming A Vegan Means Enjoying Dairy Free Cheeses

,
3D ANIMATION :

There are different types of vegetarians and a vegan is the most restrictive. Vegans do not eat any dairy or animal products, replacing these with similar-tasting product equivalents. This means enjoying things like dairy free cheeses, which are soy-based and contain no animal products, casein, butterfat, or cholesterol. These all-vegetarian products taste just like regular cheese, feature low prices, and are easy to find.

Lactose free cheese is available in American cheese and mozzarella flavors. It is sold in eight-ounce packages, each containing 12 slices. As with regular cheese slices, the product should be refrigerated in order to keep it fresh. These slices are the perfect topping to a veggie or soy burger and will satisfy any dairy cravings held by a new vegan. Some people love this cheese so much, they sometimes snack on it throughout the day. Healthy ingredients means there is no worry of packing on the pounds or clogging the arteries.

In addition to this type of cheese, dairy free cream cheese is also available. It comes in various flavors, including French onion, herbs and chives, garlic and herb, and even smoked salmon. There is also a non-hydrogenated version of the plain style. All of these can be used in recipes calling for regular cream cheese and they also taste great when used as a dip or spread on a bagel. Vegans can enjoy this guilt-free treat whenever they have a craving for regular cream cheese.

Some vegans miss their sour cream more than anything when they embrace this new lifestyle. They do not need to worry because they can enjoy lactose free sour cream that includes no butterfat or milk. It comes in plain, non-hydrogenated, and guacamole flavor and makes a perfect dip or topping. Enjoy this sour cream with vegan-friendly Mexican dishes and experience improved heart health. It is also great with potatoes and vegetarian chili, a favorite treat of vegans.

Dairy free cheeses make the vegan lifestyle easier for many people. These are available as lactose free cheese slices, cream cheese, and sour cream. Vegans can use these products just as they would the traditional versions, including making recipe substitutions. In addition to those who practice the animal and dairy product-free life, individuals who are lactose intolerant will enjoy these cheeses. Products like these mean that those who do not eat dairy can still enjoy their favorite meals without having to make much adjustment.

Consistency In Web Design

3D ANIMATION :

The human mind constantly searches for patterns in everything that it sees everyday, striving to find the unified picture as a whole. If the mind cannot find pattern in what it is seeking, it has a high tendency to look elsewhere.

When doing web design, it is important to design the website in such a way that makes it easier, not harder for the mind to see the pattern. It must be clear to a visitor he is still at the same site.

If objects with similar functions are grouped together, its function will be easily understood and remembered. When designing an interface, it is important that all similar tools used for navigation and accessing information should stay consistent. The webpage font, style, colour, layout, mouse over effects should also stay consistent. When the user clicks a link, he must recognize the connecting page is similar to the previous one, failing to do so will make the user confused and will prompt him to visit other websites.

If there are sound or animation used in navigation, the sound and animated effect should stay the same in all pages. For example, if an animation is turned on by clicking a flash button, it should be done the same way in the rest of the webpages.

One method of ensuring consistency is to use Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). By defining standard style properties in another document, it is possible to achieve the same look and feel to all your webpages that use the same style sheet. A style sheet, for example, can be used to make the text on every page 12 pt Verdana, all headings (h1) orange..etc. If the style of the site needs to be changed for any reason, only one document needs to be updated. Without style sheets, doing manual adjustments on every page is tedious and often result in errors and inconsistency.

Another way to promote site consistency is to use templates. A website template is a document that defines the structure of muliple pages in your site. For example, if the header and footer are standard across all pages in your site, they can be attached to the body of your document via an automated process, saving you time and typing errors. Many web editing softwares such as Dreamweaver offer templating function. Server-side technologies can also do the same job easily.

Consistency is very important in website design because it makes the reader do less thinking. Time is money. Your reader wants to find the information he needs quickly. Inconsistency design only slows down their surfing speed and make them lose interest in your site easily.

Millsberry Virtual World Review - A Cute and Enjoyable Experience For Kids

,
3D ANIMATION :

Millsberry is an online virtual world game created by General Mills, the food giant. The virtual world is however 2D and not 3D. Millsberry can be played online and is totally free of cost. Once a player signs up and creates an account, he or she has a variety of options to choose from- the avatar's outward look, the clothes etc. These things can be purchased using Millsbucks, the currency form of the game. Initially every player is provided a certain sum of money, but later, the players have to earn this money by playing different mini games.

Every player's performance in the game is judged by the following 5 factors- Health, Fitness, Intelligence, Civics and Hunger. In fact, Millsberry is a very educative game- children get to learn to open a bank account, or to send a post at the post office and several other things, which come in handy in life.

However, what excites the children are the options available for customisation of the avatar and all the goodies they can buy once they have enough millsbucks. They can buy their own house, decorate it, make friends and visit their homes. Having said that, the virtual world lacks the X factor as it is two dimensional. One doesn't ever get a holistic idea of how the place looks like. The navigation is a little rough and there are other technical problems as well. Because of these, the children are sometimes left dejected- they create their perfect house but somehow. It just doesn't look that great in the game. This problem is compounded by the fact there is no preview option.

The Millsberry mini games aimed at the collection of Millsbucks are interesting. Games like Archery and Solver keep the kids hooked on Millsberry. They lay great emphasis on creative activities like music and photography. Thus, they promote these interests in kids and kids get to develop their skills here.

But again, they come with their own set of problems. The instructions for these games are very unclear and kids are left confused about the rules. Also, the games tend to become repetitive and boring after a point of time.

The plot of the game has weekly stories which are also related to mini games. These are updated regularly but still, there isn't a central story line running through Millsberry. Nevertheless, the weekly aspect manages to keep the kids curious.

One area that is flawless in Millsberry is the safety aspect. Parents have absolutely no reason to feel worried about their kids playing Millsberry. There is no offensive language, no obscenity at all. But this is a direct implication of the fact there is no communication in the game. Millsberry lacks any interactive qualities and has only educative books. This makes the game a little monotonous. After all, kids love to interact and make friends.

Millsberry also falls short when it comes to the community aspect. There is no sense of social bonding. One would expect it to have a strong community, it being an online game. But there are no chat forums or any platform that facilitates conversations between fellow players. There are only a select few pre-determined phrases which cannot support a normal conversation.

General Mills has also used Millsberry virtual world to advertise their own products. All the food products that can be bought in the game carry their logos. These products are ridiculously over priced and this reportedly bothers parents. They believe that since everything is so expensive, children tend to get obsessed with collecting money. They are solely driven by consumerist tendencies. However, this is one of the minor problems.

Thus, Millsberry is cute and enjoyable for kids. But it has its share of technical and thematic problems which need to be looked into.

Free Movie Tickets

,
3D ANIMATION :

Free movie tickets are among the most popular freebies on the market. Studios and advertisement agencies free movie tickets as enticements for increasing sales and profits.

Movie Studios often offer free movie tickets or a free screening of their new movies. The premise is that it will build up word of mouth hype around the movie and attract droves of more theatergoers to watch the movie. For example, when the movie Erin Brockovich was to be released in Bangalore, India, free tickets were distributed to women on a first come- first serve basis to organize an all woman screening on the first day.

Sometimes studios or theatres make arrangements with companies, offices, or educational institutions to distribute free tickets to their members. Children in particular are treated to free movie screenings. Some companies offer free movie tickets as incentives added to their compensation.

Very often, free movie tickets are offered as freebies when using the services or products of certain companies. The Internet is swarming with advertisements for free movie tickets that are given out to surfers who play particular games, order goods, buying products, or opt for free trials. For example, the famous chocolate maker Hershey's advertises an offer in which one must collect 16 points from specially marked packages of Milk Duds Candy, Whoppers Malted Milk Balls, or Hershey's Bites Candies to exchange for one free movie ticket.

There' s also a site called FreeMoviePremiereTickets.com. One can get a pack of 2 movie premier tickets after completing one free offer by the company. The tickets are paid for by the sponsors of the site who benefit by the increase in traffic you generate for them. The tickets are usually shipped in less than three days.

Many offers for free movie tickets end up being scams, but they are often genuine. Consumers usually have nothing to lose but time by looking into these offers.

Make Your Character Come to Life With Character Animation

,
3D ANIMATION :

Creating your own cartoon character is a fun and exciting activity. Do you remember the time when you were a kid, when you just loved to draw cartoon characters along with the squiggles? There is no rule that you have to stop this hobby if you are still into it as you grow into an adult. If you want to engage in character animation, there are a few factors to consider. First, think of the word character. What do you want your cartoon to be all about? Imagining what your hero or heroine's character will be can help you get an initial idea and determine how your cartoon will look like. Start with the basic geometric shapes. Circles, squares and triangles are a good way to start your drawing. Then put in the details as you go along. Remember to include in your study drawings the different facial expressions of your character, like what it will look like when angry, happy or sad. Draw about five to seven initial drafts of your characters before going on to the next step.

Once you're done with your cartoon and you are satisfied with the initial sketches, then the next step is to write the script, which is the challenging part. It is important to have a script if your character animation will involve several cartoon characters and voice actors. The longer your animation feature is, the better your script will develop. It will help you in creating a solid storyboard, which is a small series of pictures and drawings of your complete animation. It will contain the highlights and important scenes of your plot. Your scenes do not have to be detailed, the basic sketches and rough drawings will do because the storyboard will just serve as your guide. You can even draw stick figures and simple geometric shapes for the background. With this, you don't have to necessarily record your audios in order.

There are several free or paid recording software available both for the Mac and PC platform. But since this is your first character animation, just go for the free or trial ones. You will also need a good quality microphone. A mic that can filter out background noise is a good choice but can be costly. Time your voice according to your animation. Or time your animation according to your voice. But it should be stressed that you should time everything. Otherwise, your animation will look like a dubbed foreign cartoon where the lips don' match the words!

Study animation various software and stick to the one that you feel most comfortable working on before looking for more advanced software. Of course you also have to consider the effects you are going to us like the background noise, music and the sound effects. Again, because you have a storyboard, you don't have to do the animation in sequence. You can go through the scenes and just arrange them when you're done. As easy as that, you can distribute copies of your animation feature. Remember to ask for feedback so that you can improve on your next project. Who knows, maybe one day you will be able to join the rank of the elite in the field of being a character animator?

Best Quality Dog Foods - What Do You Need to Know

,
3D ANIMATION :

Going on a search for the best quality dog foods has been a much bigger project than I initially imagined. I decided to start trying different dog foods after the ongoing concerns with the quality of dog foods and because our male Border Collie, Rodeo struggles with stomach problems and has joint issues. I wanted to make my own determinations on safety and quality on any dog food I choose to feed my loving pups Rodeo and Maddie and of course they were pretty sure they should have a say too.

It's probably worth mentioning that I have been in the dog business for over twenty years so I did have a pretty good idea of what I was looking for in a dog food. However, I was shocked at the lax regulations within the dog food industry. It is so easy for a food company to manipulate the information they put on the outside of their food package and then call it nutritious.

I was even more surprised to find that some of the so called quality foods that you would pay a hefty price for in the discount stores are actually not what they make themselves out to be! That's what those advertising dollars are paying for. Which leads me to my first big tip, throwing money at a high priced dog food does not make it a best quality dog food.

I started by properly learning how to read a dog food label. There are many tricks and frankly deceptive practices that make it a priority to learn how to read a label. Here is a shortened version of that process to help you get started. The first set of labeling rules comes from the FDA and must list the following information:

  1. The product must be identified as a dog food
  2. The weight, volume or count of the dog food
  3. Name and location of the manufacturer
  4. Listing of all ingredients by their common name
  5. Listing of all ingredients in descending order by weight

The next agency that may be policing your dog food is the AAFCO or the Association of American Feed Control Officials. AAFCO is not a government agency like the FDA, instead its members are made up of state and federal employees from various agencies and employees from pet food companies. They have additional rules and label regulations on top of the FDA regulations for pet foods. However, dog food regulations vary from state to state and not all states agree to AAFCO regulations.

It's noteworthy that AAFCO statements only appear on commercial dog foods, which means the natural diets and homemade diets can not be compared using these standards.

With the dog food companies using adorable packaging with cute and catchy names, it's easy for them to imply that their food is made with good stuff and your dog's will love it. When in truth, they are hiding the poor quality of their food behind fancy advertising techniques. It's natural for us as consumers to gravitate toward the more attractive packaging, which is why it's important to learn how to read the label.

Confused already? Let me explain what I mean when I refer to some companies hiding the poor quality of their dog food. For starters, it's completely possible that you can purchase a beef dog food that may not actually contain any beef! The problem lies with the rules and regulations allowing the companies to hide poor food ingredients behind wording twist and with hidden meanings. Here are a few of the statements that are used on food labels that can be misleading:

  • With Chicken Flavor - Flavor is detectable but doesn't have to have any actual Chicken meant present in the product.
  • With Salmon - The product contains at least 3% salmon. So if you buy a product that says "now with real beef" it may only have 3% real beef in it!
  • Beef Dinner - The product must contain at least 25% Beef.
  • Liver For Dogs - At least 95% of the product must be liver or 70% including water

Along with the misleading phrases above, there are many other dog label statements that you will need to be wary of: Natural Food, Organic Food, Gourmet Food & Premium Food - A dog food can say "Organic" but it may not necessarily be 100% organic. You should also look for artificial flavors, calories, antioxidants as potential misleading ingredients and all of them vary between manufacturers and product lines.

It's also important to point out that ingredients are listed by weight but they are listed before they go through any processing. This gives manufacturers another way to pad their label. By listing the weight of the meat in it's hydrated state, it's obviously going to make it higher up on the label than the same ingredient after going through the dehydration process. In other words, the label is giving you the amount before processing in it's original form, not what you are actually getting after all of the moisture is removed during processing.

Watch for poor ingredients that have been split. For example, instead of using a whole grain such as rice, the manufacturer separates the grain into a lesser product such as rice bran and rice gluten. These are far inferior products.

So now you have a good idea of what not to include in your best quality dog foods so what rules should you follow when choosing a safe food?

  1. Always read the label and if you have questions, ask them!
  2. Make sure the first ingredient is a whole meat source such as salmon, chicken or lamb.
  3. Absolutely NO protein or meat by-products like bone meal and meat meal.
  4. Never buy anything that has leftover animal products from rendering plants.
  5. Avoid low quality grains like corn or split grains like rice gluten that create an inferior product.
  6. Use human grade foods or organic or natural - remember that these terms are not yet regulated.
  7. Stay away from preservatives - a good rule is - if you can't pronounce it - leave it!
  8. There is no need to choose foods that are too specific such as for a specific breed. They do not offer any great advantage and will likely cost your more money.
  9. When you are searching for your best quality dog foods, make sure you choose more than one. Look for 3-5 quality foods that agree with your dog and offer different flavors and different protein or meat sources. This way your dog gets a change in variety and by feeding multiple food sources you help fill in nutritional gaps.

Once you know what to look for it's time to start sampling foods. There are lots of companies that offer free samples, so if you are interested in particular brands, give the company a call and usually they are glad to send out samples to a new potential customer.

Keep in mind that each dog is unique and no one food is right for every dog. While I think discussing your dog's diet with your vet is always a good idea, I'm a big fan of you, as a pet parent being the one to make those choices together with your dog. Why? Well, you know your dog better than anyone and you are the one to notice those little nuances like when they are not feeling well, or if they are hurt etc. So you will also be the one to know whether or not your dog likes or dislikes a new dog food and whether or not the new food agrees with your dog.

Keep a journal of what you fed your dog and how they liked it and if they had any problems. Make sure you don't mix foods and only feed them one at a time. Wait a few days in between switching foods or you will have a dog with a big tummy ache and you won't get an accurate read on whether or not they liked each food and how it agreed with them.

Don't let yourself become intimidated during this process. This is all about you making a life long healthy best quality food choice for your dog that is directly related to their daily health and their lifespan. Use the tips above and good old fashion common sense when making decisions. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Utilize forums, ask a vet online, your personal vet, a friend or you're always welcome to contact me through one of my contact forms.

As a pet parent, I want to emphasize the importance of choosing quality ingredients. Maddie and Rodeo are certain that it absolutely must taste good! Consider any additional personal health needs that your dog may have and start choosing a best quality dog food!
